Audio Added to TPG and Contest Winners Announced
Thank you, dear readers, for all your comments over the last few weeks and for choosing to subscribe to Tea Party Girl. It’s been very exciting as a blogger to break the 100 readers barrier; a personal goal I set a few months back. Another hurdle I jumped this weekend was to record my first podcast, short and sweet as it is. You can find the 5-minute welcome message from me in the top right corner, just below my picture. I tend to be a reader over a listener myself; but I know that isn’t true for others (in fact, the percentage of the population who never reads a book after leaving school is quite staggering!).
Are you more of an audio or visual learner? I would love to hear your comments on the subject. Do you enjoy downloading podcasts from the Internet?
Congratulations, MzRita and MamaBugs! You were my first commenters to correctly guess what I left out of my spontaneous afternoon tea last Friday afternoon. Yep, if they had been readily available, I would have added a small bouquet of flowers and some creme fraiche/spread for the scones, which would have meant we needed knives. Some of you had great ideas, from cinnamon candies to a small favor. The key was to consider the very basics of what can potentially be thrown together at the last minute.
No one mentioned the lovely stack of books found in one of the pictures. Might of given a hint of WHOM I shared afternoon tea with.
MzRita and MamaBugs, contact me (from my ‘About‘ page) with your snail-mail address, and I’ll send you 2-ounces of my favorite tea.
Do you ever have the opportunity to sit down over tea with a friend in the afternoon? Where do you spend the majority of your afternoons? Would you feel confident to pull something together in a half-hour or less? Would you want to?
Again, your comments are always greatly appreciated.

Good job for your first video. Shorter and faster are the only tips I can share. I have a podcast I do with the same beginning and ending on each one. If you get it up on iTunes you can drive traffic to your site. Use a short format–mine are usually about one minute.

I think I am more of a visual learner, I read more blogs than I listen to podcasts. Unfortunately I’m one of those staggering numbers that hasn’t read much since being out of school. I enjoy it, just never make time for it. Congrats to the winners!
For the other questions, no I don’t have a friend over for tea in the afternoon. I have been thinking about hostessing a tea party for a few gals but haven’t up to this point. If my best friend weren’t a 40+ hour drive away I would love to have her over regularly. If I had 30 min to pull something together I wouldn’t be fully prepared. I would have enough just to drink tea but unless my guest would enjoy pb&j I wouldn’t have any food to serve. I do have a tablecloth but it’s only the same size as my table when I put the extra leaves in, no cloth napkins & no fresh flowers to pick & put in a vase.

I never would have heard of you if I didn’t love tea parties! I was positive I would never use a computor until I discovered ebay. I buy teacups and dishes, teapots and cream and sugar sets. My daughter told me about some and she bid for me for a few years, until I tried it. Now, I have to find places to put all of my treasures! I have 5 sisters and many friends. Every birthday is a big tea party. My tables are always being photographed. I have found that it opens up a woman’s heart to see a beautifully set table. I does something inside her that nothing else can do. It makes her feel special and ready to receive and give. People who rarely speak in groups will open up and have fun in such a setting. My tea parties have become my ministry to the women in my life. They infuse love and acceptance with every sip.

Our little home school is now having tea every afternoon at 4:00. Often times, friends are over, and there is always enough to spare. We plan out little muffins, or brownies, my 12 year old son even made a beautiful from scratch chocolate cake the other day. We use small paper plates, due to our small space and small children! We are not the least bit tea savvy, and we use our ONE tea kettle (the cute ones are in storage), but the 7 kids all have their favorites already. Kallie prefers English Breakfast, while Caleb really loves the Darjeeling Black tea. Kate (6 years old) is totally into her daily Chai Tea. Klara agrees with Kate. Connor so far does not prefer tea at all. He says, “I take milk or water.” (He is
Baby Keeghan likes every single kind, with a dab of milk. She is 1 year old. Charles, at 2, doesn’t talk yet, but sits with us and goes along with the plan. We have tea at 4:00, with washed faces and hands. It is a time for fellowship and manners. The kids look forward to it, and I think we will be making some chocolate chip muffins today, or maybe some lemon poppyseed muffins. The kids are frowning at my future making of “carrot cake”, but I am convinced, they will slowly and politely GOBBLE it down. Scones are coming up in a later issue. I need some time to remember making them years ago for a mother/daughter tea I hosted. Nothing better than the lemon (stuff?) that is served with it! TO DIE FOR! I have to thank Tea Party Girl for inspiring me to have more tea this new year. This is MORE TEA than I have ever had in my entire life! And we all love it! Won’t be long until we are a family of tea savvy, and oh my! Will we transition to loose leaf tea soon? Keep up the great blog, my Tea Party Girl friend, and we just might!
Tally Ho! as I go sip my first cup of tea for the day!
PS My oldest daughter and I have gotten in the habit of drinking tea all day long. The tea pot is often making its famous whistling song as the younger kids race to turn it off! Wonderful memories!

Jenny, I don’t listen to any podcasts on a regular basis. But it was nice to hear your voice. Thanks for sharing.
