Tea Party Girl–Where Are You?

A little under the weather, I’m afraid.

And anyone with children knows sickness with children takes the energy distribution to an entirely different level. Thankfully mine are getting older and more self-sufficient, but keeping up with writing hasn’t been happening.

I have however, been relishing this time of year because of one reason while I’m lying in bed: the explosion of songbirds in our backyard. Living near a stream means the robins and finches flock to our tiny corner of the world. And mid-April they’re all sitting on their nests or gathering food for their mate who’s sitting on their nests and singing their hearts out the moment dawn breaks. If I thought it would do it justice, I would record it for you. Instead, I hope you are enjoying your own local songbirds.

The melody of the birds reminds me that we often have to work really hard to replicate what our Creator gives us in nature. And in a world of constant media and activity we need to seek the simple beauty, including that of the birds. So this weekend if you can, rest a little, take some time for tea, and listen to the birds. Let their beauty speak to your soul.
