Tea Party Girl’s First Free Give-Away!

Over 250 blogs have teamed up to participate in a Dog Days of Summer Give-Away (hence the funny dog I added to my sidebar today) over at a semi-famous blog in some circles, Rocks in My Dryer. Despite entering as Blog #250 (!) I decided I wanted to reward my readers while introducing others to all that’s happening here at Tea Party Girl. All YOU have to do is leave a comment here at TPG this week. I will hold a drawing on Friday to see which lucky commenter will win…drum-roll, please…a beautiful glass teapot and warmer set WITH two ounces of my best-selling loose-leaf tea.

Here’s a picture of JUST the teapot

glasspot_4001.jpg

This beautiful pot is perfect for the ever-increasing popular flowering teas. It also works well however you might set your dinner table, as glass works for every season and decor.

SO WHAT’S THE CATCH?

All I ask in return to enter to win is for you to help me with a little market research. Please answer one of the two following questions in a comment:

  1. What is a Tea Party Girl article/post you have found helpful and why?
  2. What is your number one question about throwing a tea party-themed event?

THAT’S IT! I look forward to hearing from all of you. Once you’ve made a comment here, feel free to peruse the other couple hundred give-aways. Who knows, you might win twice!

My number 1 question about holding a tea party themed event is this: How do I make the really nice pin roll egg-salad sandwiches? Do you have any good recipes?

  • 2. Nicole  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

I found the Definitions of Different Types of Tea article helpful, because even though I know I could look them up elsewhere it’s nice to have them all in one place.

  • 3. Lara  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

My favorite articles have been the ones planning your upcoming birthday tea. I enjoyed the description of how you’ll decorate and the lazy baker’s hints.

  • 4. Beth  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

My question would be: I prefer traditional black tea, but I have many friends who like herbals. Can you recommend some tea varieties to have on hand for my tea loving friends?

I enjoyed your post on the types of tea and also about tea time at the Ritz… ahh!!

  • 5. Carina  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

My tea party question would be: Should you brew your tea(s) in one pot(s) and then transfer to a fresh, warmed pot or is it okay to serve the tea directly from the pot it was steeped in and just use a strainer?

  • 6. Becky  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

    1. I love the lazy baker post- I’m lazy!
    2. My daughter’s b-day party in Nov. is going to be a tea party! What are some food items you suggest for 8 year olds, other than sandwiches?

  • 7. Rebecca  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

Wow! This site is really great. I’d like to add you to my link list of informative blogs. My grandmother loves tea & tea parties. She gave my sister & I each one in the week before we were married. She had it at a local day spa where they offer to host such events.

    1. I really liked the post on your menu for the August tea, makes me think that I can even throw a tea party sometime. Cooking/baking is not my strong point. Oh and how I miss Trader Joe’s - used to have one back home but none since moving.

    2. Is there a rule of etiquette about serving coffee at a tea party? I’m curious about this because at my sister’s ‘bridal tea’ she requested coffee - she’s addicted & doesn’t like tea so much. I laughed but now I’m curious about it.

*If you don’t offer a Bridal Tea in your services, that could be a fun & marketable one. At both of ours the guests included the Maid/Matron of Honor, Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, Grandmothers & of course the Bride herself. It was a fun & relaxing time in the middle of wedding preparations. Doing this at the spa allowed for those who wanted to get a massage or facial prior to the tea starting. Just an idea for you. Wish you all the best in your business!

  • 8. Deborah  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

Well, this is my second attempt to post a comment!
I love the idea of the sea/spa themed party….great for this time of year…light, breezy and airy. Would kind of tea would you suggest for that?

Do ladies really like the hats, flowery cups/saucers - the old fashion teas…or is that out-of-date now? I personally love them!

  • 9. Anonymom  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

I LOVE TEA and I’m so glad to have found your blog via RocksinmyDryer.

My number one question about throwing a tea party is at what time of day should it be held? Is there etiquette about a specific time?

And, when we were in London 10 years ago, we ordered tea but I suppose it was not “high tea” time because when we also asked for a platter of finger sandwiches and sweets to go along with our Earl Grey, the concierge replied to my father, “Sir, you want tea…with tea.” Can you explain that?

What flavor of tea is the most popular around the world?

  • 10. Julie  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

Well, since I just found you, I don’t have a favorite post, but I can tell I’m going to love your site!!!
My question is…how do you do a tea party on a small budget? I’d really love to do one, but haven’t a clue as to how much it would cost to do.

I am here by way of Rocks in My Dryer. I’m so glad I found you! I spent 5 months in England and fell in love with tea while I was there. I’ve always wanted to have a tea party but I don’t think I know enough to do it right! I enjoyed reading the article about the different kinds of tea. I clicked on the “perfectionist” link but it didn’t work for me. I could probably use that one! My question would be this: do I need to offer several kinds of tea or only one kind of tea at a tea party?

Just a side note. I’ve always wished Starbucks had better tea so that I could enjoy going there as much as my coffee-drinking friends do. I recently discovered Teavana and need never enter Starbucks again!

  • 12. Lissete Diaz  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

Although I just found your site, I enjoyed the lazy baker post. I know I’ll be back. Please count me in for your great giveaway!

  • 13. Rachel W  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

Just found your site. I grew up in a irish tea loving family and often do tea time for my girls. Thanks so much.

  • 14. Mrs. L  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

The Lazy Baker’s Way to A Tea Party & your post on Mother’s Day. I love the practical ideas in the first post on what to serve and on the 2nd post what stuck out to me is that you can have a special tea time with very little needed to do so (something I should take to heart).

Well, my question for you would be how to have a tea party without serving dairy or even yeast breads (challenging, but just wondering what you might do).

  • 15. anodyne  |  July 23rd, 2007 at

I found the article about the different types of teas helpful. I never really knew the difference. And I always wondered what darjeeling was!

  • 16. Lauri  |  July 24th, 2007 at

I Love tea… when in Russia adopting my daughter.. its all I ever had to drink

I liked your post about a childrens themed tea party & Spa tea party

and my question is about loose teas.. for some reason I have always been intimidated by using these types of teas.. although I know they are better quality… how do I get past this silly fear.

  • 17. Steph @  |  July 24th, 2007 at

    What a fantastic idea!

Favorite post - The one about tea party foods not ruining our healthy eating plans. :-)

#1 Question - How can we get more men involved in tea parties?

  • 18. Nikki  |  July 24th, 2007 at

Count me in on the giveaway!

  • 20. Ginny  |  July 24th, 2007 at

Would love to win this, big fan of tea! I really liked the articles on a theme for a childs party & then how to plan one. I’m going to keep reading though, I love tea parties for little ones!

  • 21. Erica  |  July 24th, 2007 at

I’d absolutely love to be entered into your giveaway– what a perfect prize!

One question I’ve often wondered about is whether it is all right to serve several different–say, one fruity/herbal, and two or three different black–pots of tea at the same time at an afternoon tea…or should everyone get to choose their own individual teabags?

By the way, I love your site :)
    Thanks!

  • 22. tami lewis  |  July 24th, 2007 at

What is a Tea Party Girl article/post you have found helpful and why? since i just found you today i think my fav post was the first one i ever read lol i see you are planning a teaparty- so cool! i do this with bible studies- see my profile at my blog www.agodlyhomemaker.blogspot.com

What is your number one question about throwing a tea party-themed event? a personal q- do you have all your teacups match or do you set a bunch of different ones out and watch which ones the ladies pick? i do the latter!

  • 23. Qtpies7  |  July 24th, 2007 at

I think that is a beautiful tea pot!
I would love to know how to serve tea. I am the new women’s ministry leader in our church, and I would like to make small get-togethers to get to know the women better. I don’t know anything about tea besides instant iced tea!
Do I brew the tea in a pot or do I make the water hot and steep the bags in each person’s cup? How do I know everyone would want the same tea?

  • 24. Stacey  |  July 24th, 2007 at

My question is… what cookie or dessert is best for a tea party??

  • 25. Michelle  |  July 24th, 2007 at

My question about throwing a tea-party themed event: Is it only for summer, or can a tea party be held indoors?

  • 26. Rachel  |  July 24th, 2007 at

My #1 question would be……How do I throw a good tea party on a budget?I most of the time dont have 10 dollars per guest.Do I make all my baked goods to save money? I have only had one party and it has been with one dear friend. Thanks for your time Rachel

  • 27. Jennifer, Snapshot  |  July 24th, 2007 at

    I would love this teapot!

I went to a lovely tea party once, and it was really great, and ever since then have thought of hosting one. I loved your idea about limiting guests, and just doing it, but I would probably like more info on that, because it IS hard to do as a woman.

  • 28. Becca  |  July 24th, 2007 at

    I’d love to win this!
My question would be about how to serve the tea and make sure it stays warm.
    Thank you!!

A Sparrow’s Nest has a sweet tea (no pun intended) recipe for good southern tea. Her blog is refreshing in itself.

A tea party question: What is the best cookie or such to serve with your tea?

Thank you for your give away!!

  • 31. Pam  |  July 24th, 2007 at

My question would be when throwing a tea party how do you best accomodate those that favor decaff over traditional teas? I love to include children at my teas, but prefer to offer them a decaff tea due to their ages. How can I accomplish this without making it obvious that the grownups are enjoying different varieties?

  • 32. Sherry  |  July 24th, 2007 at

My question is, however do I find time to plan a tea party type event?

    Thanks! Count me in!

  • 33. annie  |  July 24th, 2007 at

I LOVE tea! I just found your blog through Rocks In My Dryer, so I don’t have a favorite post…yet…but I’m bookmarking you so I can come back again and again. I’d love to win this! Number one question? Hmm…how do you have a tea party that doesn’t convey images of Victorian flowers, lace, and frills for those guests who may be turned off by that?

  • 34. Karen (mommy of three)  |  July 24th, 2007 at

I found the article about hosting a tea party on a budget very helpful, as I have never had one, but have really wanted to. That said, my question was how to go about it, but I see several articles relating to that, so I am planning to bookmark you, and visit again so I can start planning! Please count me in for your contest, a teapot would probably be helpful in hosting a tea party:)

Also, please feel free to enter my contest for a free Apple Pie Ala’Mode Candle!

  • 35. Angela  |  July 24th, 2007 at

Hi! I am new here. :) My favorite post is the one you wrote about budgeting for the party! Sometimes I have ideas that seem frugal but end up costing more than I expected, when I could have budgeted and made a better statement with less. I like how you lay it all out! :)

My #1 question is planning a tea party for young children with the guest of honor a BOY! :)

  • 36. Melanie  |  July 24th, 2007 at

No. 1 question: Where can I find the cute little individual strainers for loose tea?

I really want that little glass teapot - my sister in law brought me some flower tea from China recently!

  • 37. Tara Sloan  |  July 24th, 2007 at

  • 38. Kristi from NC  |  July 24th, 2007 at

Honestly, I just found your site through this contest. But, I cannot wait to go through and read it :). I am fascinated by the teapot and am anxious to learn all about making really good tea (besides good ol’ Southern Sweet Tea :). So, I guess that will be the main quest. for me. That, and your recommendation for a really good jasmine tea.

    Thanks!

Oh, pick me! I want to win! BTW, I’m doing a giveaway over at my place. Please stop by if you get a chance.

This is my first visit to your blog, so I don’t have a favorite post/article yet. I will be adding you to my favorites and will be back to visit. I’m looking forward to learning more about tea.

Question: Have you ever hosted a Mad Hatter tea party?

  • 41. Liz  |  July 25th, 2007 at

My question is…What do you do about those who enjoy the company and fellowship, but have zero interest in good tea?

Your blog is so unique! I love it!

    Thanks for entering me.

  • 42. Deb  |  July 25th, 2007 at

Just found your site - never been here before but am adding it to my favorites. I read through everyone else’s questions…and to be honest, they are all great questions and ones I would ask. I don’t have an original one that hasn’t been asked already in the comments above. I would LOVE to win your giveaway, but whether or not I do, I’ll be back to peruse your site. Thanks!

  • 43. PariSarah  |  July 25th, 2007 at

    What a neat giveaway!
    My #1 question is:
What are some crafts you could do at a little-girls’ type tea party?

  • 44. Anastasia  |  July 25th, 2007 at

    Count me tin too :)

An article I found helpful was the Lazy Bakers Way to Plan a Tea Party Menu. I loved this because in the summer, it’s soooo hot in the kitchen! Anything that helps me not have to cook is a bonus!

  • 45. Amanda Chick  |  July 25th, 2007 at

I’d love to enter this giveaway! Thanks so much!

  • 46. cre82learn  |  July 25th, 2007 at

Please enter me in your giveaway. Thanks for participating! I loved reading about the different types of teas. Question: the only time of day I can usually do anything social is evening, what would you suggest to eat with serving a variety of teas? Can I get away with finger foods or since it would have to be around dinner time, do I need a full menu?

  • 47. LivingforGod  |  July 25th, 2007 at

Please enter me in your giveaway. Thanks! My question about throwing a tea party-themed event is: what is the appropriate duration for a normal tea party?

  • 48. Sheryl  |  July 25th, 2007 at

I hope this doesn’t disqualify me, but I had two favorite articles: The Secret to Managing Your Weight with Tea and The Tea Parties Most Important Ingredient.
My question: Is there a rule of thumb for how much food and tea to have available per person?

  • 49. Kayla Chick  |  July 26th, 2007 at

Please add me to the drawing. It’s beautiful.

Questions: What is the best kind of tea party to have on a hot day?

  • 50. Janne  |  July 26th, 2007 at

Well, I just saw the post below about the children’s tea party…so you answered my question. As the mother of five girls (who all LOVE to have tea-parties), I suppose I would like to hear more ideas about CHILDREN’S tea parties — particularly low-cost ones. :)

Enter me, please! And feel free to stop by my blog and enter to win free Scripture!

question: What if your girls don’t like tea?

  • 52. Shana  |  July 26th, 2007 at

Ok here is my crazy question. What do you serve those that don’t don’t *gasp* like tea (or coffee)?

And please count me in. If I win I am going to pass this gift on to my mom, she adores tea.

  • 53. Shoeaddict  |  July 26th, 2007 at

I have to be honest and say that I’ve never been to this site before. I LOVE tea, though. LOVE. Iced, hot… I’m a southern girl so, I grew up drinking the ever popular “sweet tea”

I’d love to hear about new teas. Hot teas. I live in small town Louisiana and I probably can’t get my hands on anything fancy.

I’d really love to win what you’re giving away.

    I’ll be reading your site.

  • 54. Tammy and Parker  |  July 26th, 2007 at

    Your Mother’s Day post.

I’m always on the lookout for great decaf teas, herbal teas and rooibos teas. Any suggestions?

How about a recipe using one of the above for sweet tea?

This is my first visit but I love your post with the to-do list. I am a list making kind of person so your list will be very useful to me in the future. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to visiting here often. You’ve been bookmarked!

  • 56. Judy Mazuren  |  July 26th, 2007 at

Hi; I too am new to your site and love it! I have been working at the idea of having teas for some time now and look forward to reviewing all your helpful tips.
My question is, when planning the tea party events what sort of ready to go inventory should one need to have on hand….ie: vases, tableclothes, dishes etc…..
