1 bowl to mix in
1 - 2 cookie sheets (covered w/foil to be tossed, so no washing them) to bake on
1 knife to cut with
a couple measuring cups.

Not many dishes for scones. I hate dishes...but that's what dishwashers are for. ;-)

Ah well...to each her own. I think Costco had little mini scones last time I was out there...

Hi Teaparty Girl,
You must try "Max's Scones"...they are famous, easy to make and can be made, baked, then warmed up right before you serve them...I have made them for over 10 years and sold them in my tea shop for $1 each...and they are small too, but ever so good.
2 c flour.....2 TBS baking powder...1/4 c sugar
cut 5 & 1/3 TBS cold butter into the dry ingredients
Measure...1/2 c heavy cream, 1 egg, 1&1/2tsp vanilla.....
(add any extras, choco chips, currants, nuts, cranberries, etc. to dry mixture)
then add liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and stir well, using hands eventually until makes a soft ball...do not add more liquid, this looks dry, but it is fine.
roll out on a floured board to 1/2 in thick and cut with small cutter....(I call them small and tall). Makes 20 1&1/4 inch scones.
brush egg wash (1 egg yolk and 2tbs water) and dust top with sanding sugar...optional)
Bake in 400 degree preheated oven for 8 minutes. You will take them out, cool and then put in ziploc baggie and store in fridge until tea time....put back on cookie sheet, bake for another 3-5 minutes in 400 degree oven...voila! they are the best, I guarantee.
Remember cold butter, hot oven
you can freeze them too.

Looks like you have everything well in hand! I'll be curious to see how you solved your scone problem. Seriously, they are one of the simplest things to make ever - you can mix up 2 different kinds in about 15 minutes, and make your place cards or polish silver while waiting the 20 min. or so for them to bake. Nothing to it, really. :-)

Congrats on your kid-free week...I can't imagine trying to get everything pulled together will little ones underfoot!
